Developed SketchUp Model

View from inside the top gallery, 'endless' views and lines.

I've also done this with the stairs going up to the top gallery, these stairs are much thicker, to blend in with the thicker curved lines of the building. This view can be related back to the draft design image, showing how its been developed.

When designing the lower gallery space, i wanted it to be a sculpture below ground. The word 'departed' gives the idea of something deceased, dead, buried underground. So that's what ive done. I wanted lite stairs which wouldn't take any focus off the lines of the building, but to just blend in place.

The building has a sculture like form just like both artists work, the 'wings' on the building act like wings on a dead, 'departed' bird sticking out of the ground, this allows the peice of architecture be one with its surrounds.

The curved lines of the building give an 'endless appearance', running in and out of the ground, it captures onlookers attention while they stare not knowing where the building starts or ends just like in Goodwins art. The building can also be inspirational to the artist himself, while working in his work space.

This was the draft design that my model was developed from.

the initial sectional sketch.

Top gallery sapce - Richard Goodwin - endless

low gallery space - Ricky Swallow - departed
